Can I get access to the digital collection from abroad?

Books and other materials in the the National Library’s digital library that are in the public domain, are available to everyone.

In addition, an agreement between Kopinor and the National Library allows many more books to be made available to users in Norway. This only applies to books published in or before the year 2005. A few select periodicals can be made available on the same grounds, and in the same way.

Users outside of Norway may apply for access to this set of materials for specific purposes. These purposes are primarily research, education and professional translation.

If your application is approved you will be able to read materials tagged “Tilgang for norske IP-adresser”, regardless of location. Access is granted for a period of six months, with the possibility of an extension.

The application form can be found here.
